Version 0.9 working game
The initial version of a playable game built in a couple of days for the Seaside Game Jam developed with TIC-80.
As per normal I struggled at first to come up with a game play idea, I am ok at coding and graphics but often don't enter a jam cos I can't think of basic game mechanic. This time I started by drawing some characters that would be at the seaside, drawing the crab gave me the idea of a parent crab trying to keep control of their babies and avoiding getting caught by a seagull.
Had some trouble with the balance of difficulty but once I thought of the baby crabs tunnelling away from the rock pool and appearing randomly along the beach rather than just jumping out of the rock pool it seemed to work.
I might add some others based on feedback but my to do list is currently:
add high score feature
add some animations
add sound
show the seagull carrying a baby crab if it catches one
add the controls to the startup text
add the option to play again after game over
